Welcome to October!
It’s a busy month across Hertfordshire, and we’re here to make sure you don’t miss a thing. October marks Black History Month, and Hertsmere Council is leading the way with exhibitions and family-friendly activities kicking off this weekend. In Welwyn Garden City, the iconic Coronation Fountain has been lit pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a striking reminder of the importance of early detection.
Residents also gathered yesterday evening to welcome the powerful Knife Angel sculpture to the town centre. Standing 27ft tall and made from 100,000 surrendered knives, it marks the start of a month-long anti-violence campaign that is both moving and vital.
If you’re looking for something more festive, head over to Hertford Oktoberfest for a weekend of beer, bratwurst and Bavarian vibes.
Waltham Cross Library closes its doors for a month-long refurbishment work, so you may need to look for another Library during this time.
Finally, as we enjoy our freedoms this weekend, we take a moment to reflect and honour those who tragically lost their lives in the recent attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester. Our thoughts are with their families and community.
